Space & Rocket Center

While we were in Huntsville, we had a chance to go to the Space & Rocket Center. It was hard to miss this place from the highway.
We learned a lot while we were there. Did you know that the designers of the first rocket for the US were actually German Engineers that surrendered to US forces after the second world war? Nope neither did I. Did you know that Huntsville was chosen as a munitions manufacturing location because of it’s proximity to the Tennessee River. Like I said we learned a lot.
The property is also the host of Space Camp. It was fun watching all of the kids going to and from the Space Camp. We were there on a Sunday, which is apparently graduation day and check in day. The most interesting thing was the displays that were all over the museum, highlighting former Space Camp attendees and where they were now. Many of them working as engineers and other positions at companies that are currently designing the rockets that will take people to Mars and beyond!
