Beautiful Kauai, Hawaii!

We were off on an another adventure. This time we travelled to Kauai, Hawaii. Unfortunately we couldn’t bring Dash or Cole with us. Cole got a chance to be spoiled on a sleepover with his Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop. By the looks of it, he had the time of his life. I don’t think he missed us at all.

Kauai is a beautiful island, the last island in the Hawaiian Island chain. The first thing you notice once you get out of the airport terminal…the chickens. They are everywhere!

Now on to the beautiful sights in Kauai!

Check out this video of the Spouting Horn near Poipu Beach. The cool thing is the roar of the vent hole after the water blows out.

We had some cool experiences while on the island. First up was an ATV tour through an old sugar cane plantation. By the time it was over, we were covered in red dirt from head to toe!

Next up was a luau. We chose one of the oldest family luaus on the island. The Smith family has been hosting a luau for nearly three decades. The grounds were just beautiful. The food was awesome and the show was very entertaining, especially the part with the fire!

Our last adventure was very different from anything we had previously experienced. We went tubing down the irrigation canals of an another old sugar cane plantation. The land is actually privately owned by Steve Case. If that name sounds familiar, to us older folks, it is because he was the co-founder of AOL.

The tour took us through various canals, tunnels and flumes that were all hand dug through the lava rock in the 1870’s. The caves were very dark, hence the headlights. Before we went into the caves, you could hear everyone yelling ‘lights on’. In the last tunnel, the guides had us leave the lights off to experience the caves without the our sense of sight. The entire experience was just amazing and highly recommended if you go to Kauai.

We spent a few more days checking out the gorgeous sights on Kauai. The ‘Grand Canyon of the Pacific’ was so colorful and just a beautiful sight.

We also visited the Daniel K. Inouye Kīlauea Point Lighthouse at the northernmost point of the Hawaiian Islands. This area is also home to Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge, the largest bird sanctuary in the state. This point of the island is on top of a 180 foot bluff, so the views are just incredible.

We had an amazing time on Kauai. With all these activities, we even managed to get in a few rounds of golf. If you like adventure and you like to explore, this is a great place to add to your bucket list!!
