St. Augustine

When we came home from our last trip in October, we originally planned on putting Dash in storage until the spring. We quickly realized that it was not a good idea to let Dash sit for several months over the winter, so we decided that it would be best to take him out and exercise all of the systems every month. Besides, we really enjoy being out on Dash whenever we can.

Sticking with our plan, we took a little trip up to St. Augustine. The morning we left, the sunrise was just beautiful.

Our frequent readers know we love to take walks on the beach and get some fresh seafood whenever we get the chance to go to a coastal town. St. Augustine did not disappoint. We were happy to learn that the beaches of St. Augustine Beach (just south of St. Augustine) are dog friendly!!

We enjoyed the coolness of the day as we walked along the beach. It was a little sad to see all the damage from the hurricanes that have hit Florida over the last couple of years. We saw a number of stairs that didn’t make it to the ground, pipes hanging out of the sand, as well as, what looked like the edges of pools that were washed out to sea.

We took a short drive to the St. Augustine Lighthouse. https://www.staugustinelighthouse.org/ 219 steps is all it takes to get to the top.

Once you are at the top, the views are beautiful as expected. We could see the intercoastal waterway as well as downtown St Augustine.

They had some really cool trails through the woods around the lighthouse that Cole absolutely loved!

On the way back to Dash, we found a local seafood market close to where we were staying and the griddlemaster whipped up a great seafood feast for us.

Everyone had a great time and we are already looking forward to our next trip!
