More About Monte Sano State Park

Image
If you are ever in the Huntsville area, take the time to check out Monte Santo State Park. Take a 20 minute trip out of the city and head up the hillside. This place is just beautiful and has something for everyone. Besides the trails for walking and mountain biking, there are picnic areas, cabins for rent, a disc golf course, and even a Japanese Tea garden. Cole loved this place. When he sees a trail, he will walk forever. He even got to see some deer on our walks through the woods. You can find out more about this park here https://www.alapark.com/parks/monte-sano-state-park .

Space & Rocket Center

Image
While we were in Huntsville, we had a chance to go to the Space & Rocket Center. It was hard to miss this place from the highway. We learned a lot while we were there. Did you know that the designers of the first rocket for the US were actually German Engineers that surrendered to US forces after the second world war? Nope neither did I. Did you know that Huntsville was chosen as a munitions manufacturing location because of it’s proximity to the Tennessee River. Like I said we learned a lot. The property is also the host of Space Camp. It was fun watching all of the kids going to and from the Space Camp. We were there on a Sunday, which is apparently graduation day and check in day. The most interesting thing was the displays that were all over the museum, highlighting former Space Camp attendees and where they were now. Many of them working as engineers and other positions at companies that are currently designing the rockets that will take people to Mars and beyond...

Short Shakedown Cruise

Image
Before we headed out on our next big trip, we wanted to take Dash on a short trip to get to know him a little better and understand more about all of his systems. We went up to the Santos Campground, just a short hop away. What is nice about this spot is that it is right next to Santos trailhead, where we have taken our mountain bikes many times in the past. Some of our followers have even joined us on these trails. The campground is beautiful, lots of trees and shade. The trails at Santos are amazing. There is over 60 miles of trails through the woods and even a paved trail that goes all the way out to the Landbridge. For those that travel I-75, when you get close to the Belleview exit, there is a bridge that goes across the highway that has all sorts of beautiful foliage that hangs off the bridge. That is the Landbridge! It is a bridge for walkers, bike riders and even horses. This is part of the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway. You can find out more about it h...

Sunrise In Myrtle Beach

Image
My favorite time of the day is early in the morning. This is the time when many are still sleeping and the earth is just waking up. The days that I get to see the sunrise make those mornings even more special. Here are a few sunrise pictures from our time in Myrtle Beach. What is your favorite time of day? Here is a thought for the day. In fact this should be the thought for every day.

Spring Comes a Little Earlier in Florida

Image
For those of us in Florida, spring comes a little earlier than it does up north. Shortly after we got home from our trip to San Antonio in March, the weather began to warm up. We started fertilizing Dash and giving him plenty of water. Well guess what, like everything that you water and fertilize, Dash got bigger!! Like a lot bigger! Check out the pictures below. We enjoyed ourselves so much on our first big trip, we decided the we needed more space. So we went in search of a coach that would be a little more comfortable and that had a shower big enough for the Finance Guy to use. Here is a picture of the old Dash and Dash 2.0. The picture is a little deceiving. Both units are 38 feet long and 12 1/2 feet high. Soon we will be heading out on another trip. This time we are headed north to check some items off of our bucket list. Stay tuned for more of our adventures!
