St. Augustine

When we came home from our last trip in October, we originally planned on putting Dash in storage until the spring. We quickly realized that it was not a good idea to let Dash sit for several months over the winter, so we decided that it would be best to take him out and exercise all of the systems every month. Besides, we really enjoy being out on Dash whenever we can. Sticking with our plan, we took a little trip up to St. Augustine. The morning we left, the sunrise was just beautiful. Our frequent readers know we love to take walks on the beach and get some fresh seafood whenever we get the chance to go to a coastal town. St. Augustine did not disappoint. We were happy to learn that the beaches of St. Augustine Beach (just south of St. Augustine) are dog friendly!! We enjoyed the coolness of the day as we walked along the beach. It was a little sad to see all the damage from the hurricanes that have hit Florida over the last couple of years. We saw a number of stairs that d...

Fall Colors, Sunsets and Some Halloween Sights!

Image
While on the road last month, we had an opportunity to see some of the beautiful fall colors that we don’t get to see in Florida. No more words needed. This is my favorite picture. Looking down the 9th fairway of the Lakes course at The National, a Robert Trent Jones, course just outside of Auburn, Alabama. We were at some great locations to see some beautiful sunsets. The funniest thing that we saw was a bunch of adult campers decorating their campsites like they were in grade school. It was fun to see just how passionate they were about their decorations. I do believe there were some adult beverages consumed as the campsites were decorated. We had a lot of fun on the road this year. We saw some amazing sights and had some incredible experiences. We managed to sleep in twenty-one different states this year and were able to experience three National Parks. We are well on our way to completing our bucket list items of ‘sleeping at least one night in all 50 states...

Myrtle Beach

Our next stop was Myrtle Beach. We stayed at the Hideaway RV Resort. It is located right on the intercoastal, so we could see the boats going up and down the water right out our front window. While in Myrtle Beach, we played some golf, walked along the beach and had a blast. Cole really enjoyed his time on the beach. Whenever we are in a coastal town, we love to find a local seafood market and get some fresh seafood. Our favorite place in North Myrtle Beach is Platt’s Seafood. https://www.boulineaus.com/platts-seafood/ Their stuff is always fresh and they will steam shrimp and clams for you. Since we were in the south Myrtle Beach area, it was a little far to go to Platt’s so we needed to find another location near Murrells Inlet. We walked into Murrells Inlet Seafood Market https://www.murrellsinletseafood.com/ and my inner voice said, this not a place where I want to get seafood, even though the place had great reviews. As we were walking out, a gentleman was w...

Savannah is Beautiful in October

Image
So we are on the road again, this time to hit some of our favorite spots and play a little fall golf. Our first stop was Savannah to do a little sightseeing and show Cole around. We walked all around the City Market area and took a stroll down River Street. There we watched some of the big ships come into port. It was time for some southern dishes, so we made our way to Moon River Brewery. They had a great outdoor eating area that was dog friendly. The food was really good and in true southern style, we had a good size doggie box to take home. Cole was very disappointed when I explained to him that a ‘doggie box’ was just an expression and the leftovers were not really for him!! We headed over to Skidaway Island State Park to check out the trails and the campground there. Everything was just beautiful. The trail doggie was in heaven! Next time we come to Savannah, this is where we are going to stay! Tybee Island was our last stop in the Savannah area. Here we check...
