Last Outing Before Our Summer Trip

Image
We have completed our last local trip before we head out for the summer. This short trip took us back to the place where we spent the last night of our Fall 2022 trip, Reed Bingham State Park in Adel, GA. When we were there last year, we considered staying and extra night or two, but just couldn’t make it happen. This time we had four nights to check out all that the park offered. Our arrival at the park was a little scary for me. When we were about 5 miles from our exit off of I-75, we saw this in front of us. The sky was getting very dark ahead of us. Once we got to our exit, both of our phones were going off with warning sounds. When I looked at my phone, the message was “Active alert, Tornado Warning”. All of the weather maps that I had looked at showed the storms well north of where we were, so I wasn’t overly concerned. Once we got off the highway, we only had 6 miles to reach the campground. We made it about three miles and I saw a wall of water ...

A Little Time In The Desert

Image
We spent a few days in the desert and boy did we see some beautiful sights.  Wait, did you think I meant actually in the desert? Well it was kind of in the desert, it was Palm Desert, just outside of Palm Springs. The view flying into the area was just beautiful. I love to see the snow capped mountains, I think they are just breathtaking. How about you? While we were there, we played some golf and then we did some exploring. The first golf course we played was Terra Lago https://golfterralago.com/ in Indigo. This course was a real desert course.  The wind was blowing so hard the day we played, we felt like we were getting sandblasted! The course did have a neat feature, they use railroad cars as bridges over the canals that run through the course. If this course looks familiar to you, perhaps you saw it during the made for TV golf event called the “Skins Game”. This course hosted that event for three years, when it was called “The Landmark”. The next day we ...

St. Augustine

When we came home from our last trip in October, we originally planned on putting Dash in storage until the spring. We quickly realized that it was not a good idea to let Dash sit for several months over the winter, so we decided that it would be best to take him out and exercise all of the systems every month. Besides, we really enjoy being out on Dash whenever we can. Sticking with our plan, we took a little trip up to St. Augustine. The morning we left, the sunrise was just beautiful. Our frequent readers know we love to take walks on the beach and get some fresh seafood whenever we get the chance to go to a coastal town. St. Augustine did not disappoint. We were happy to learn that the beaches of St. Augustine Beach (just south of St. Augustine) are dog friendly!! We enjoyed the coolness of the day as we walked along the beach. It was a little sad to see all the damage from the hurricanes that have hit Florida over the last couple of years. We saw a number of stairs that d...

Fall Colors, Sunsets and Some Halloween Sights!

Image
While on the road last month, we had an opportunity to see some of the beautiful fall colors that we don’t get to see in Florida. No more words needed. This is my favorite picture. Looking down the 9th fairway of the Lakes course at The National, a Robert Trent Jones, course just outside of Auburn, Alabama. We were at some great locations to see some beautiful sunsets. The funniest thing that we saw was a bunch of adult campers decorating their campsites like they were in grade school. It was fun to see just how passionate they were about their decorations. I do believe there were some adult beverages consumed as the campsites were decorated. We had a lot of fun on the road this year. We saw some amazing sights and had some incredible experiences. We managed to sleep in twenty-one different states this year and were able to experience three National Parks. We are well on our way to completing our bucket list items of ‘sleeping at least one night in all 50 states...
